Block 2 – Elite Game Skills, WEDNESDAYS

DETAILS: This block takes everything we worked on in Block 1 and brings it into game situations. While we continue to refine powerskating and puck control (as these skills are crucial at every level), Block 2 introduces competitive drills and situational play to help players apply their skills under pressure. The block focuses on 4 key areas: 🔹 Powerskating (Advanced) Tight turns and transitions with full speed and balance Edge control under pressure and during contact Quick acceleration out of battles and corners Skating mechanics in real game situations 🔹 Puck Control (Advanced) Handling the puck in traffic and while protecting it from opponents Maintaining possession under physical pressure Deception with added game speed Puck movement during attacks and quick transitions 🔹 Battles & Angling 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 battles along the boards and in open ice Angling techniques to take away time and space Stick positioning and body leverage for puck separation Competing for loose pucks and winning possession under pressure 🔹 Game Situations & Decision Making Small-area games with focus on quick reads and execution Support and spacing concepts in offensive and defensive zones Transition play: reacting fast to turnovers Developing hockey sense in high-tempo drills 🧠 The Approach Just like in Block 1, we keep small groups (5–6 players) for maximum individual feedback and correction.
